1. Seeking Allah’s Acceptance For Any Good Deeds
“Our Lord, accept [this] from us. Indeed You are the Hearing, the Knowing.”
(Quran 2:127)
You can recite this supplication anytime you wish for Allah (SWT) to accept the good deeds you’ve just performed. It is the du’a that Prophet Ibrahim (AS) recited after constructing the Kaaba with his son.
2. Dua for Guidance and Forgiveness
“Our Lord, and make us Muslims [in submission] to You and from our descendants a Muslim nation [in submission] to You. And show us our rites [of worship] and accept our repentance. Indeed, You are the Accepting of Repentance, the Merciful.”
Quran 2:128
This du’a serves as a declaration of your faith in Islam. It is also a powerful prayer that seeks success and blessings for the entire Muslim Ummah. It is the same du’a recited by Prophet Ibrahim (AS) after building the Kaaba with his son.
3. Dua for Blessings in This World and the Hereafter
“Our Lord, give us in this world [that which is] good and in the Hereafter [that which is] good and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.”
Quran 2:201
Indeed, this is one of the most beautiful duas a believer can recite. It asks for goodness in this world while also seeking blessings for the afterlife. “So remember Me, and I will remember you. Be grateful to Me and do not be ungrateful.” (2:152)
4. Dua for Patience, Steadfastness, and Victory
“Our Lord, pour upon us patience and plant firmly our feet and give us victory over the disbelieving people.”
Quran 2:250
This is a supplication asking Allah (SWT) for protection, patience in any undertaking, and success in overcoming challenges. It is the prophetic dua for protection, recited by Prophet Dawud (AS). Despite being young and seemingly at a disadvantage against Jalut (Goliath), Allah granted Dawud (AS) strength, wisdom, and dominion. As we are reminded in the Qur’an, “And Allah granted him dominion and wisdom, and imparted to him the knowledge of whatever He willed.” (2:251).
5. Dua for Mercy and Pardon
“Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or erred.”
Quran 2:286
This is a dua for tawbah (repentance), and seeking Allah’s (SWT) forgiveness is one of the most powerful supplications a believer can make. It reflects humility, guarding against arrogance and pride. Consistent repentance demonstrates a deep reliance on Allah (SWT) for everything, showcasing the believer’s trust and submission to His will.
6. Dua for Relief from Heavy Burdens
“Our Lord, and lay not upon us a burden like that which You laid upon those before us.”
Quran 2:286
7. Dua for Mercy, Ease, and Divine Help
“Our Lord, and burden us not with that which we have no ability to bear. And pardon us; and forgive us; and have mercy upon us. You are our protector, so give us victory over the disbelieving people.”
Quran 2:286
The final two verses of Surah Al-Baqarah contain three powerful duas that can be recited together or individually. These verses are among the most memorized in the Qur’an. The Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: “Whoever recites the last two verses of Surah Al-Baqarah at night, they will be sufficient for him.”
8. Dua for Guidance and Protection of the Heart
“Our Lord, let not our hearts deviate after You have guided us and grant us from Yourself mercy. Indeed, You are the Bestower.”
Quran 3:8
This is another beautiful dua a believer can recite, asking for Allah’s mercy (rahma). The believer recognizes that all things are made possible through Allah (SWT). In this supplication, we ask Allah to make us among those who are guided, and to protect our hearts from swerving once we have embraced the truth, regardless of our environment or circumstances.
9. Dua for the Day of Judgment and Divine Promise
“Our Lord, surely You will gather the people for a Day about which there is no doubt. Indeed, Allah does not fail in His promise.”
Quran 3:9
This is a dua from the believers, affirming their faith in the afterlife—a place where we will either receive the rewards for our good deeds or face the consequences of our wrongdoings. “Indeed, Allah does not break His promise.”
10. Dua for Forgiveness and Protection from the Fire
“Our Lord, indeed we have believed, so forgive us our sins and protect us from the punishment of the Fire”
Quran 3:16
This is a dua for repentance and protection, where we ask Allah (SWT) for forgiveness and to safeguard us from the punishment of the Hellfire. “[Remember] when you called upon your Lord for help, and He responded, ‘Indeed, I will support you with a thousand angels, one after another.’” (8:9)
11. Dua for Faith, Obedience, and Witnessing
“Our Lord, indeed we have believed, so forgive us our sins and protect us from the punishment of the Fire”
Quran 3:16
A dua of faith and devotion, asking Allah (SWT) to record us among those who bear witness to the truth. In the Qur’an, Allah tells us how He saved Isa (AS) from those who plotted against him: “[Mention] when Allah said, ‘O Jesus, indeed I will take you and raise you to Myself and purify [i.e., free] you from those who disbelieve.’” (3:55)
12. Dua for Forgiveness, Steadfastness, and Victory
“Our Lord, forgive us our sins and the excess [committed] in our affairs and plant firmly our feet and give us victory over the disbelieving people.”
Quran 3:147
A dua for repentance, victory, and resilience—to stand firm against evil. The following verse states, “So Allah gave them the reward of this world and the excellent reward of the Hereafter. And Allah loves the doers of good.”
13. Dua for Contemplation, Gratitude, and Salvation
“Our Lord, You did not create this aimlessly; exalted are You [above such a thing]; then protect us from the punishment of the Fire.”
Quran 3:191
A dua praising Allah (SWT) and seeking His protection from Jahannam (the Fire). When we reflect on the world around us, we witness the complexity and perfect order in Allah’s creation—nothing is made without purpose. This supplication is an expression of gratitude, recognizing the beauty of life. It continues by asking Allah (SWT) for protection on the Day of Judgment and salvation from the punishment of the Fire.
14. Dua for Seeking Allah’s Mercy and Justice
“Our Lord, indeed whoever You admit to the Fire – You have disgraced him, and for the wrongdoers there are no helpers.”
Quran 3:192
We may not often reflect on where we came from, but eventually, we begin to think about where we are headed. We start to contemplate the consequences of our actions, recognizing the importance of cause and effect. This supplication serves as a powerful reminder and motivation to stay mindful of our path, knowing the ultimate fate of the wrongdoers.
15. Dua for Embracing Faith and Submission
“Our Lord, indeed we have heard a caller, calling to faith, [saying], ‘Believe in your Lord,’ and we have believed.”
Quran 3:193
A dua of humility, submission, and faith. We have heard the call (referring to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ), accepted his message, and firmly believe in it.
16. Dua for Mercy, Purification, and a Blessed End
“Our Lord, so forgive us our sins and remove from us our misdeeds and cause us to die among the righteous.”
Quran 3:193
A dua for repentance, the cleansing of our misdeeds, and asking Allah (SWT) to grant us a righteous death while remaining steadfast on the right path.
Ibn Abbas (RA) narrated: One night, I stayed at the house of my aunt Maimuna and thought to myself, “I will observe the prayer of Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ).” My aunt placed a cushion for the Prophet (ﷺ), and he slept on it lengthwise. When he woke up, he wiped the traces of sleep from his face and then recited the last ten verses of Surah Aal-e-Imran until he completed them.
17. Dua for Receiving Allah’s Promise and Protection on the Day of Judgment
“Our Lord, and grant us what You promised us through Your messengers and do not disgrace us on the Day of Resurrection. Indeed, You do not fail in [Your] promise.”
Quran 3:194
A dua of humility, seeking salvation from disgrace on the Day of Judgment. For a true believer, there is no doubt that Allah (SWT) will fulfill His promise. Instead, this supplication is a plea to Allah (SWT) to make us worthy of His promise.
18. Dua for Strengthening Faith and Bearing Witness to the Truth
“Our Lord, we have believed, so register us among the witnesses.”
Quran 5:83
A dua for those who wish to testify to the truth and openly affirm their belief in it. Whoever is grateful benefits their own soul, but whoever is ungrateful—indeed, Allah is self-sufficient and worthy of all praise.
19. Dua for Gratitude, Celebration, and Divine Mercy
“O Allah, our Lord, send down to us a table [spread with food] from the heaven to be for us a festival for the first of us and the last of us and a sign from You. And provide for us, and You are the best of providers.”
Quran 5:114
A dua for provision, encompassing all forms of sustenance—food, wealth, and the means to make a living. All good provisions come from Allah (SWT), and we turn to Him, seeking His generosity. This supplication was recited by Isa (Jesus) (AS), asking for sufficient food for himself and his followers. In response, Allah (SWT) declares in the following verse, “I am going to send it down to you, but whoever among you disbelieves afterward, I will punish him with a punishment I have not inflicted on anyone else in the worlds.” (5:115)
20. Dua for Seeking Allah’s Pardon and Avoiding Loss
“Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves, and if You do not forgive us and have mercy upon us, we will surely be among the losers.”
Quran 7:23
A dua for repentance (tawbah). From Prophet Adam (AS), we learn the importance of acknowledging our mistakes and turning to Allah (SWT) in sincere remorse. Admitting our faults and feeling regret is a beautiful reflection of faith and devotion. In this supplication, we seek Allah’s forgiveness and strive to avoid repeating our mistakes. This is the dua Prophet Adam (AS) recited after his transgression in Paradise.
21. Dua for Protection from the Fate of the Wrongdoers
“Our Lord, do not place us with the wrongdoing people.”
Quran 7:47
We should recognize that we are shaped by the company we keep. While we may intellectually understand that the fate of wrongdoers is grim, in our daily lives, we can become blind to this reality as it unfolds gradually. It’s only when the end result is revealed that we realize the mistake in our judgment, but by then, it is often too late. This dua seeks Allah’s protection from falling victim to such a fate.
22. Dua for Justice and Divine Judgment
“Our Lord, decide between us and our people in truth, and You are the best of those who give decision.”
Quran 7:89
A dua of Prophet Suhaib (AS). After facing intense opposition from the influential people of the city, who threatened to exile him unless he fabricated a lie against Allah, Prophet Suhaib (AS) responded, “Would we invent a lie against Allah if we were to return to your religion after Allah had saved us from it? It is not for us to return to it unless Allah, our Lord, wills. Our Lord’s knowledge encompasses all things.” He then recited the following supplication to Allah.
23. Dua for Patience and a Righteous Death
“Our Lord, pour upon us patience and let us die as Muslims [in submission to You].”
Quran 7:126
A dua of Prophet Musa (AS), asking for sabr (patience), perseverance, and praying to die in righteousness. This supplication was recited after Pharaoh resorted to persecution and threatened Musa (AS) following the miraculous event where he threw his staff and established the truth among those who disbelieved.
24. Dua for Protection from Trials and Oppression
“Our Lord, make us not [objects of] trial for the wrongdoing people. And save us by Your mercy from the disbelieving people.”
Quran 10:85-86
This is a prayer recited by the companions of Musa (AS), seeking protection from evil and unjust individuals. It is a dua for success and safety, asking not to be used as examples by the disbelievers. Facing severe persecution under the tyrant Firawn, they prayed to remain a source of goodness in the world.
25. Dua for Trust in Allah’s Perfect Knowledge
“Our Lord, indeed You know what we conceal and what we declare, and nothing is hidden from Allah on the earth or in the heaven.”
Quran 14:38
This dua reflects complete trust and reliance on Allah (SWT). It serves as a reminder that Allah is all-knowing and all-powerful, and that nothing is hidden from Him. He understands the true intentions behind our actions, whether they are sincere or otherwise.
26. Dua for the Acceptance of Our Prayers and Supplications
“My Lord, make me an establisher of prayer, and [many] from my descendants. Our Lord, and accept my supplication.”
Quran 14:40
This is a du’a of Prophet Ibrahim (AS), who, aware of the mistakes of past communities, prays to Allah (SWT) to guide both himself and future generations to be righteous Muslims. Specifically, he asks that they uphold their second fundamental obligation—performing their daily prayers. The du’a concludes with a request for Allah (SWT) to hear and accept this supplication.
27. Dua for Forgiveness for Oneself, Parents, and Believers
“Our Lord, forgive me and my parents and the believers the Day the account is established.”
Quran 14:41
This is a du’a of Prophet Ibrahim (AS), recommended for asking Allah (SWT) to forgive both yourself and your parents. Abu Hurairah (RA) narrated that a deceased person can be elevated in rank after death when their child prays for their forgiveness. The person asked, “How is this possible, my Lord?” and was told, “Your child can ask for forgiveness on your behalf.” (Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 36)
28. Dua for Seeking Allah’s Guidance and Favor
“Our Lord, grant us from Yourself mercy and prepare for us from our affair right guidance.”
Quran 18:10
This du’a is a plea for Allah’s (SWT) approval, mercy, provision, and patience. It is found in Surah Kahf, where it was recited by the young men who fled their city to escape persecution for practicing their faith. Seeking refuge in a cave, they turned to their Creator for guidance during their trials, and their prayers were answered.
29. Dua for Protection from Oppression and Harm
“Our Lord, indeed we are afraid that he will hasten [punishment] against us or that he will transgress.”
Quran 20:45
This is the du’a recited by both Harun (AS) and Musa (AS). Standing up for what is right can be daunting, especially when we witness injustice around us. Harun (AS) and Musa (AS) also faced immense fear when confronting Firawn, and they turned to Allah for help. In response, Allah assured them with the words, “Do not be afraid. I am surely with you both; I hear and I see.”
30. Dua for Forgiveness, Mercy, and Protection
“Our Lord, we have believed, so forgive us and have mercy upon us, and You are the best of the merciful.”
Quran 23:109
This du’a seeks Allah’s mercy, invoking His divine attribute of Ar-Rahim, the Most Merciful. Other verses in the Qur’an that highlight this attribute include 7:151, 21:83, 23:118, 12:64, and 12:92.
31. Dua for Protection from the Punishment of Hellfire
“Our Lord, avert from us the punishment of Hell. Indeed, its punishment is ever adhering; Indeed, it is evil as a settlement and residence.”
Quran 25:65-66
A du’a reminding us of the dreadful abode of Hell, asking Allah (swt) for His protection from the torment of Jahannam.
32. Dua for Blessings in Family and Guidance as a Leader for the Righteous
“Our Lord, grant us from among our wives and offspring comfort to our eyes and make us a leader [i.e., example] for the righteous.”
Quran 25:74
“Qurrata ‘ayoni” is an ancient Arabic phrase meaning to bring peace and joy, especially from a spiritual viewpoint, to bring calmness and happiness. In this context, it is a prayer asking Allah (swt) to bless us with the “coolness of the eyes” through our wives, children, and future generations. It is a request to be granted the ability to be righteous leaders and exemplary role models for others.
33. Dua Acknowledging Allah’s Forgiveness and Gratitude
“Our Lord is Forgiving and Appreciative”
Quran 35:34
The Qur’an describes this as the du’a that a believer will recite when entering the Garden of Eden. They will praise and thank Allah (swt) endlessly for His forgiveness and gratitude. Despite our imperfections and shortcomings, Allah (swt) forgives us and values the small deeds we performed during our lifetime. These deeds are small because we can never truly earn the full reward of paradise through our actions. In this du’a, Allah is invoked by His beautiful names, Al-Ghafoor (The Most Forgiving) and Ash-Shakur (The Most Appreciative), reflecting His mercy and grace.
34. Seeking Allah’s Boundless Mercy and Protection from the Fire
“Our Lord, You have encompassed all things in mercy and knowledge, so forgive those who have repented and followed Your way and protect them from the punishment of Hellfire.”
Quran 40:7
Allah’s (swt) knowledge and mercy are boundless, extending infinitely. This du’a is a plea for Allah’s mercy upon all believers who have turned to Him in repentance (istighfar), seeking His forgiveness.
35. Dua for Reunion in Paradise and Divine Mercy
“Our Lord, and admit them to gardens of perpetual residence which You have promised them and whoever was righteous among their forefathers, their spouses and their offspring. Indeed, it is You who is the Exalted in Might, the Wise. And protect them from the evil consequences [of their deeds]. And he whom You protect from evil consequences that Day – You will have given him mercy. And that is the great attainment.”
Quran 40:8-9
This du’a seeks the reunion of the believers with their descendants in Jannah, reuniting with their forefathers, spouses, and children. It calls upon Allah (swt) by His noble attributes of Al-Aziz (the Mighty) and Al-Hakeem (the Wise). The prayer concludes by asking for Allah’s protection on the Day of Judgment and for His mercy, the ultimate and most cherished gift.
36. Dua for Unity and Forgiveness Among Believers
“Our Lord, forgive us and our brothers who preceded us in faith and put not in our hearts [any] resentment toward those who have believed.”
Quran 59:10
This du’a reflects the mindset we should hold towards our fellow Muslims, acknowledging both those who embraced Islam before the migration (the early believers) and those who followed after. It serves as a reminder of our unity as one Ummah, urging us not to harbor resentment or hatred. Instead, we should maintain love and kindness in our hearts for each other, resisting any feelings of envy over the blessings Allah (swt) bestows on others.
37. Dua Acknowledging Allah’s Compassion and Mercy
“Our Lord, indeed You are Kind and Merciful.”
Quran 59:10
A du’a of praise invoking two of Allah’s noble names and attributes. The first, Ar-Ra’uf, signifies the Most Kind and Compassionate, the one who shows immense kindness. The second, Ar-Raheem, denotes the Most Merciful, the one who bestows unparalleled mercy upon His creations.
38. Dua of Trust, Repentance, and Return to Allah
“Our Lord, upon You we have relied, and to You we have returned, and to You is the destination.”
Quran 60:4
We must place our full trust and reliance in Allah (swt) for all matters. This du’a emphasizes that our complete dependence is on Him alone. Additionally, it serves as a reminder that this worldly life is temporary, and our ultimate destination is to return to Allah (swt).
39. Dua for Protection from Trial and Victory Over Disbelievers
