1What is the meaning and Difference among “Ruqyah”, “Ruqya”,“Dum” or “Islamic Spiritual Healing” ?

All have the same meaning in different languages as below:

  • Ruqyah or Ruqya: “Ruqyah” of written as “Ruqya” is an Arabic word used for islamic spiritual healing.
  • Dum: is the word used in Urdu and Hindi language for islamic spiritual healing.

Ruqyah in Arabic means healing, the Islamic way according to the sharia.

It is reported in Sahih Muslim that the Prophet (Peace and Blessing upon Him) was quoted as saying: “There is no harm in using ruqyah as a means of treatment provided it does not consist of anything polytheistic/shirk.”

In many cases, Ruqiyah treatment appears to be the only viable solution to an enduring psychological, spiritual, or mental problems people struggle with in life. Apart from spiritual ailments, this treatment can also be applied to physiological/medical conditions. We do it with the help and rehmat of Allah to help people.

2Is “Reiki” and Ruqyah or Dum same. If not what is the difference between them?

No.

“Reiki” and Ruqyah or Dum are not same.

Reiki is an energy healing technique that promotes relaxation, reduces stress and anxiety through gentle touch of hands.

3Is Ruqyah or Dum permissible?

Yes.

Ruqyah is allowed and has been prescribed by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ as long as it doesn't contain any form of Shirk at all.

4Can Ruqyah or Dum done to Non-muslims?

Yes, but they have to follow through certain conditions during the process. For example, believe in this process of healing, they will be guided to stay away from haram during the process.

5Who are the therapists?

A therapist is a person who offers any kinds of therapy. Therapists are trained professionals in the field of any types of services like psychologists, spiritual healer, social workers, counsellors, etc. They are helpful in counselling individuals for various mental and physical issues.

Therapist helps in resolving many different issues such as: Issues anxiety, behavioural, depression, managing life changes, eating disorder, loneliness, having complexion, Grieving issues, Issues on self-esteem, Issues due to negative thinking, Issues due to chronic illness, Sleep disorder, Gender based or sexuality issues, Issues on Relationship, Society based issues, Stress based issues, Addiction based issues, Suicide or self-harm based thoughts, Trauma related issues, exorcism, evil eye, black magic (sihr) etc

6Who are the “Islamic spiritual therapists” or “Islamic spiritual healer” or “Raaqi” or “Mualij (معالج)”?

He is a person with special knowledge and skill of spiritual healing within the bounds of islamic sharah; that is transferred heart to heart and with supervised practice. While their experience, expertise, and background vary, they all possess at least 3 years in this field in our way of spiritual healing.

7Who are the “Islamic Spiritual Therapists” or “Raaqi”?

He is a person with special knowledge and skill that is transferred heart to heart and supervised practice. While their experience, expertise, and background vary, they all possess at least 3 years in this field in our way of spiritual healing.

8Who are the “Islamic Spiritual Therapists” or “Raaqi” on our panel?

Most of these “Mualij (معالج)” or spiritual therapist on our panel are Islamic scholars (maulans), some are even muftis and have the experience of treating hundreds of patients. Many of them can communicate in multiple languages commonly ( English, Arabic, Urdru , Hindi or Pashto).

We do background check, peer check and feedback from people being treated they had been treating on premises and online.

9What is “Sihr” or “Black Magic” or “witchcraft”?

Sihr is an Arabic term that refers to black magic or witchcraft. It is mentioned in the Quran and is considered a sin in Islam.

Sihr is of mainly two types:

  • Magic of Delusion: One that is used for creating delusion.
  • Magic of causing harm: Other is used to cause harm.

Magic of Delusion:

According to Sharie’ah, the meaning of sihr is what the magicians do to delude and confuse people, so that the one who is watching thinks that it is real when in fact it is not. As Allah said concerning the magicians of Pharaoh (interpretation of the meaning):

“They said: ‘O Musa! Either you throw first or we be the first to throw?’ Musa said: ‘Nay, throw you (first)!’ Then behold! their ropes and their sticks, by their magic , appeared to him as though they moved fast. So Musa conceived fear in himself. We (Allah) said: ‘Fear not! Surely, you will have the upper hand. And throw that which is in your right hand! It will swallow up that which they have made. That which they have made is only a magician’s trick, and the magician will never be successful, to whatever amount (of skill) he may attain.’” [Ta-Ha 20:65-69]

Magic of causing Harm:

Sihr is used to cause harm to others by invoking evil spirits or jinn. It is also used for personal gain or to control others.

The evils that come at the hands of the magicians or others do not happen because our Lord is ignorant, for He knows all things and nothing at all is hidden from Him, as He says (interpretation of the meaning):

“Verily, Allah is the All-Knower of everything.” [al-Anfal 8:75]

“that you may know that Allah has power over all things, and that Allâh surrounds all things in (His) Knowledge.” [al-Talaq 65:12]

10What is “Jinn”, “Genie” or “Demon” ?

Jinn (singular jinni; also spelled djinni or genie) are invisible spiritual beings, who was created by Allah.

They have extraordinary abilities compare to human beings: made from smokeless fire, They can change shapes, travel fast, can possess body, control mind etc. 

11What is “Halal” ?

Halal is an Arabic word that in English means 'permissible'.
Halal is an Islamic law that specifies what is permissible (allowed) and what is not permissible (prohibited) or “Haram”.

12What is “Haram” ?

In the Quran, the term halal is contrasted with the term haram (‘forbidden’).

13Is capturing of Jinn or demon is permissible (Halal) in islam ?

No. It’s forbidden (haram).

14What is the meaning and difference among Ta’weezir“ Ta’weedh” or “Amulet”?

The definition of a Ta’weez is simply ‘a written Dua’, which is from the Holy Qur’an or the Ahadith.

The word “Ta’weez” is an Urdu representation of the Arabic word “Ta’weedh”, which is often translated as “Amulet”.The root of this word is “Ya’oodhu” which means to seek protection and refuge.

The use of a Ta’weez is permissible for protection with conditions and restrictions; as long as the person has the correct belief; that the Ta’weez can have no effect except with the permission of Allah Ta’aala and the actual doer is Allah.

If a ta’weez contains any of the following, then it will not be permissible to use it:

  • Names or qualities of other than Allah.
  • Words written in a way or script that cannot be read.
  • One does not understand the meaning of the language it is written in.
  • Codes, patterns, or numbers.
  • One uses it with the belief that the ta’weez is the actual means of cure.
