Understanding when Jinn Possess in Human: Protection and Prevention in Islam

The existence of a world parallel to our own has always fascinated people. This world is commonly referred to as a spiritual world; Islam calls this the realm of the unseen. It is within this realm that Islam explains the existence of the world of jinn. Jinns, created with free will, live on earth in a world parallel to mankind. Sometimes, jinn possess humans, influencing their lives in ways that can be both mysterious and harmful. Understanding this parallel existence helps us recognize the spiritual dimensions of our world.

Allah ﷻ  says in Surah al Hijr, “Indeed, we created man from dried clay of black smooth mud, and we created the Jinn from the smokeless flame of fire.” They have also been given a choice, like a mankind.

Choice that allows them to commit sins, A choice that allows them to do good or bad things.

Ability to Possess In The Human Body:

One of the powers they have is the ability to enter a human body; they can possess them and take control of them. Here are three reasons why and when a jinn enters the human body, according to the “Ibn-Taymiyyah.“

  1. Jinn Possession If they don’t like a person.

Jinns like to control you, causing harm or enjoying your troubles. They feed on your fear and sadness, messing with your feelings and actions. Stay strong in your faith, pray, and do good deeds to protect yourself from their influence. Stay alert, and stay faithful.

  1. The second reason is if they love the person.

The Jinn might fall in love with you when you are all alone, appreciating your beauty. You might feel alone, but you have a jinn accompanying you. Most of the time, people report that this unusual occurrence happens to women. Many sisters were possessed by jinn because the jinn fell in love with them. This is the reason why Prophet Muhammad asked us to recite Bismillah when we change our clothes.

  1. The third reason is if you have caused unintentional harm to the JINN.

For instance, you threw something in a corner, and in that corner, Jinn was resting. You obviously don’t know if Jinn was there. Yet now he is angry with you; he wants revenge.

Now the question is: How can one avoid the jinn? How can you make yourself safe from jinns?

Well, the answer is simple. All you need to do is recite Bismillah before any tasks. The name of Allah will allow you to be safe from the evil effects of a jinn. Here is one more question: can a human body be possessed by Jinn at any time? The answer is no. The Jinn will fulfill four conditions before possessing a human body.

  1. Jinn possess when the person is extremely angry:

It is that condition that allows a Jinn to enter the human body. That’s how Prophet Muhmmad ﷺ asked us: To change the position when you are angry or upset. If you are standing, then sit; if you are sitting, then lay down. Drink a bit of water because anger is from evil energy, and evil energies are from fire, and water dilutes fire.

  1. Jinn Possess when you are extremely fearful.

When you are extremely fearful, jinn can more easily possess you. They are believed to thrive on negative emotions like fear and anxiety, making it easier for them to take control. This can lead to harmful effects on your mental and physical well-being. To protect yourself, it’s important to stay calm and strong in your faith, seek comfort in prayer, and surround yourself with positive influences. Remember, maintaining a peaceful mind and trusting in your faith can help keep these negative forces at bay.

  1. Jinn Possess when you are careless.

Jinn possesses your body easily when you are careless, neglecting Salah, and not reciting Adhkar. When you are distant from “DEEN” and leading a sinful life, you become an easy target for jinn. Maintaining a strong connection to your faith through regular prayer, good deeds, and a righteous lifestyle is essential to protecting yourself from their influence. Remember, staying close to Allah and living a pious life shields you from such harmful entities.

  1. Jinn Possess when you are peaking on negative desire

Jinn also enters a body in a state when you are at the peak of a wrongful desire. For example, while watching Haram like porn or such kinds of things, your focus is on allowing Jinn to enter your body.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, as related by Al-Bukhari and Muslims, “Satan is circulated in the human body as blood does.”

Abdullah, the son of Imam Ahmed Bin Hanbal Said “My father told me that some people claim that the Jinn cannot enter the body of a person. They said, Oh, my son, they tell lies. Satan or Jinn can even speak on the tongue of those whom he possesses.”

The sheikh ul Islam, Ibn Taymiyyah, said, “What He (Imam Ahmed) said, ‘The Jinn may have possessed someone and caused them to speak a language; he does not even know. A possessed person may have been bitten in a way that a camel may not endure, yet he either feels the beating nor is he aware of the word he says.”

Further, a possessed person may drag a non-possessed person from the mat he is sitting on and move heavy things from one place to another easily. Then he said that no leading Muslim scholar denied the ability of the Jinn to enter the body of a human being.

How we can defend ourselves:

Defending yourself from Jinn is very important. Here’s how you can do it:

First, seek forgiveness and get closer to Allah Almighty ﷻ. Stop living a sinful life and start performing your Salah regularly. Make it a habit to recite morning and evening Adkhar daily. This might be tough at first because if you are possessed by a jinn or an evil energy, they will try to prevent you from getting closer to Allah. In such cases, you need professional Ruqyah services to help free you from this painful situation.

Once you are free, focus on coming closer to Allah Almighty. Pray regularly, live righteously, and follow His guidance. By doing this, you place yourself under Allah’s protection, making it harder for Jinn to harm you again. Remember, staying close to your faith, praying consistently, and getting professional help when needed are key steps to protecting yourself from jinn and evil forces.

Defending yourself from jinn is essential for maintaining spiritual and mental well-being. By seeking forgiveness, staying close to Allah Almighty, and performing regular Salah and Adkhar, you can protect yourself from jinn possession. Though the journey might be challenging, especially if already possessed, professional Ruqyah services can help you overcome this struggle. Once free, continue to strengthen your faith and live righteously to remain under Allah’s protection. Remember, a strong connection to your faith, consistent prayer, and professional help when needed are crucial in safeguarding yourself from jinn and other evil forces.
