Islamic Beliefs - FAQs
Allah is the Almighty, Creator and Sustainer of the universe, who is similar to nothing and nothing is comparable to Him.
Allah is viewed as the sole God— the Almighty, Creator and Sustainer of the universe, heaven and earth, who is similar to nothing and nothing is comparable to Him.
Allah is the proper name of the One True God. Nothing else can be called Allah. This term has no plural or gendfer, which shows its uniqueness when compared with the word ‘god’, that can be made plural, gods; or feminine, goddess.
The Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhiwasallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) (may Allah exalt his mention) was asked by his contemporaries about Allah; the answer came directly from Allah Himself in the form of a short chapter of the Quran, which is considered the essence or the motto of monotheism. This is chapter 112 which reads (what means): “Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “He is Allah—One ˹and Indivisible˺
Allah—the Sustainer ˹needed by all˺
He has never had offspring, nor was He born.
And there is none comparable to Him.” [Quran Chapter 112]
Allah! There is no god ˹worthy of worship˺ except Him, the Ever-Living, All-Sustaining. Neither drowsiness nor sleep overtakes Him. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who could possibly intercede with Him without His permission? He ˹fully˺ knows what is ahead of them and what is behind them, but no one can grasp any of His knowledge—except what He wills ˹to reveal˺. His Seat1 encompasses the heavens and the earth, and the preservation of both does not tire Him. For He is the Most High, the Greatest.
[Quran Chapter 1: 255]

Those who spend their wealth in the cause of Allah and do not follow their charity with reminders of their generosity or hurtful words—they will get their reward from their Lord, and there will be no fear for them, nor will they grieve. [Quran Chapter 1: 262]
The example of those who spend their wealth in the cause of Allah is that of a grain that sprouts into seven ears, each bearing one hundred grains. And Allah multiplies ˹the reward even more˺ to whoever He wills. For Allah is All-Bountiful, All-Knowing. [Quran Chapter 1: 261]
O believers! Do not waste your charity with reminders ˹of your generosity˺ or hurtful words, like those who donate their wealth just to show off and do not believe in Allah or the Last Day. Their example is that of a hard barren rock covered with a thin layer of soil hit by a strong rain—leaving it just a bare stone. Such people are unable to preserve the reward of their charity. Allah does not guide ˹such˺ disbelieving people. [Quran Chapter 1: 264]
And the example of those who donate their wealth, seeking Allah’s pleasure and believing the reward is certain,1 is that of a garden on a fertile hill: when heavy rain falls, it yields up twice its normal produce. If no heavy rain falls, a drizzle is sufficient. And Allah is All-Seeing of what you do. [Quran Chapter 1: 265]

Sihr is an Arabic term that refers to black magic or witchcraft. It is mentioned in the Quran and is considered a sin in Islam.
Sihr is of mainly two types:
- Magic of Delusion: One that is used for creating delusion.
- Magic of causing harm: Other is used to cause harm.
Magic of Delusion:
According to Sharie’ah, the meaning of sihr is what the magicians do to delude and confuse people, so that the one who is watching thinks that it is real when in fact it is not. As Allah said concerning the magicians of Pharaoh (interpretation of the meaning):
“They said: ‘O Musa! Either you throw first or we be the first to throw?’ Musa said: ‘Nay, throw you (first)!’ Then behold! their ropes and their sticks, by their magic , appeared to him as though they moved fast. So Musa conceived fear in himself. We (Allah) said: ‘Fear not! Surely, you will have the upper hand. And throw that which is in your right hand! It will swallow up that which they have made. That which they have made is only a magician’s trick, and the magician will never be successful, to whatever amount (of skill) he may attain.’” [Ta-Ha 20:65-69]
Magic of causing Harm:

You should generally never tell your therapist something that may harm them, such as calling them names or yelling at them. Threats and romantic advances are usually not appropriate in a therapy setting, either. These topics can make your therapist feel uncomfortable and are typically not conducive to your therapeutic relationship. However, you may tell your therapist many other things regarding your thoughts and feelings. Remember, therapists can usually only break information when your life or another person’s life is in imminent danger.
